Once they reached the bar area, Olivia squeezed Noah’s hand, pulling him to a stop. “Oh my God, will all that be okay? I mean, we were just talking, but even I felt the tension through that conversation. Do you think—”

“It’s fine,” Noah interjected gently. “No one got punched. We’re good.”

She didn’t laugh. She stared at him firmly.

He stared right back at this woman who kept surprising him more every minute he spent with her. Noah had always been a man of routine. He wasn’t impulsive. With her, he was. He needed to investigate why. Without distractions. And that single thought brought an idea. “Come away with me tonight.”

  She blinked. “What?”

His laugh came easy and felt good. He liked surprising her too, which he seemed to do often. “My family has a home in Bedford. Come there with me for the night.”

Her expression pinched. “More time together? That’s the second time you’ve changed the rules, you know.”

“Yes, I’m aware.” Fully aware. Which was exactly why he needed more time with her. To explore why. “Is my changing the rules a problem for you?”

Her eyes searched his for a loaded moment. “That depends on why you’re changing the rules.”

He didn’t mind her pushback one bit. In fact, he respected her calling him out for not staying firm on his resolve. “Meaning what exactly?”

She drew in a deep breath, holding his gaze intently. “Listen, I know we’ve got this incredible chemistry. I mean, on the radar, it’s Titanic-sized chemistry. But I can’t…I’m not ready for…”

“A relationship,” he finished for her.

“Yes, exactly,” she said with a nod and a long sigh. “It would be totally crazy to even think about dating anyone so soon after what happened with Cameron.” She glanced over her shoulder, obviously glancing at Cameron before setting her haunted gaze back on Noah. “I have nothing to hide here, and the truth is, seeing Cameron again rattled me. I’m not over all that happened with him, and I’m not sure exactly when I’ll be. Which is why I signed up for SiR. I want the fantasy, not the reality. As long as you can accept that, then I’ll go away with you.”

He had thoughts. Sure, he had a lot of them. He simply didn’t feel like talking. Instead, driven by pure instinct now and not refusing what he wanted, he scooped her up and kissed her. Hard. Passionately. Kissed her enough that when he broke off the kiss, she was breathless, and so was he. “Yes, you’re right,” he told her.

Her eyes slowly opened, pulling him in. Her pouty pink lips were puffy, inviting him to kiss her again. “Right about what?” she breathed.

“We do have Titanic-sized chemistry.” He felt Cameron’s gaze burning him from where he stood. When Noah looked back in Cameron’s direction, he let his dark grin spread across his face, then he strode away, out of the restaurant.

Without a doubt, Olivia would follow.

He knew that for certain because she had him hopelessly chasing after her too.

  Chapter 5

After a quick stop at Olivia’s apartment to gather an overnight bag, Noah sat behind the wheel of his Porsche four-door sedan with Olivia chatting away next to him. He liked the sound of her voice, finding all the conversation relaxing. He’d learned about her childhood and about life in college at NYU, while he also shared stories about his time at Harvard. They had driven along I-87, the tires gliding along the roads like a warm knife against butter.

When they reached their destination, and Noah pulled into the driveway of a three-bedroom white brick Colonial farmhouse built in the 1930s that sat on 5.7 acres, he wished the drive had been longer. He could not recall ever enjoying spending time with anyone as much as he did with Olivia. She felt good to be around, almost like a breath of fresh air.

“Wow,” she said, leaning forward and staring through the windshield at the house that had been in the Grant family for three generations.

Black shutters surrounded the windows with the greenery from the gardens drawing the eye. He parked off to the left side of the house, then Olivia was out before he could open her door. He liked how different she was than the women he knew in his past. Anyone in his inner circle would’ve waited for his gentlemanly gestures. With her realness, excitement for things, and easy way all intriguing him, he joined her outside on the cobblestone driveway.

She stared long and hard at the house before glancing over her shoulder with big eyes. “Just wow.”

“It’s quite something, isn’t it?” He moved around to the trunk, recalling so many fond memories at this house.

“It’s totally unexpected is what it is.”

He clicked the key fob and the trunk slowly began to open. “Why unexpected?”

“Because you’re…” She paused then smiled, gesturing at his car. “I mean you own a Porsche. This place is really quaint and charming, not extravagant.”

He smiled. Any house in Bedford had a high price tag. Though he let that point slide. “This house doesn’t need to be extravagant to be beautiful, and that might be what makes it so perfect.”

She slowly approached him then, stepping in close. He became entirely aware of her nearness and how good she smelled. “You are a surprising man,” she told him.

“Am I?” He tucked her hair behind her ear, becoming hard at the softness of her body pressed against him.

“Yup.” She stared up at him. “You said on the drive that this was your favorite place to come. Why?”

He didn’t mind that she wanted to know more about him. In fact, he found himself liking that more than he thought he should. “My cousins and I spent every summer here.” He exhaled deeply, glancing at the house before meeting her eyes again. “Life is simple here. Sometimes it’s nice to get out of the city and be simple for a while.”

Her smile warmed with sincere appreciation. “Your face right there. That look. I wish I had my camera to photograph that.”

He liked that smile and gave her one of his own. The warmth of her affection cascaded into the air, spiraling around him, making him far more comfortable and relaxed than ever before.

Maybe that was Olivia’s talent. Where Noah was good at reading people, Olivia could touch people’s life in remarkable ways. Whatever it was, he was affected.

“Come on,” he said, ready to get inside and naked. “Let me show you the rest of the house.” Then he’d play with her in the ways he’d been craving since she sat down in front of him at the restaurant.

He grabbed both of their bags in one hand on the way to the door. Once he unlocked the door, he followed her in. She went straight for the staircase with the gallery of family photographs on the wall.

“Oh my God…wow…these are incredible.” She kicked off her shoes and climbed the staircase a few steps to study the photographs. “Some of these pictures look so old.”

“Because they are old.” He dropped their bags at the door then leaned a shoulder against the wall. “My great-grandmother was an avid photographer. My mother had these developed a few years back.”

“Your great-grandmother had an amazing eye.” Olivia stroked her finger across one of the photographs, a tell of hers when she thought something was perfect.

Noah absorbed what he was learning about her. Olivia lived with intense passion. And the more time Noah spent with her the more beautiful she made life and the world seem, even to him. Staring at her as she slowly took in the pictures, he realized he’d had blinders on for so long. His singular focus had been about becoming a senator. Those blinders, in the past twenty-four hours after meeting her, had been lifted, reminding him of a different side of life. One not about business. One not about sex. One about something…more. He had known many good women throughout his life. But this…this…was different.

  Olivia was different.

The way her soul worked was different. And that fascinated him.
<
br />   “Olivia,” he said softly.

She slowly turned to him. “Yeah?”

“Come here.” Because if he knew anything he knew he needed to be closer to her.

Her cheeks flushed pink, and she gave him a heated smile. “W-what’s that look all about?” she asked.

He enjoyed the little stumble in her voice, as much as he enjoyed the rest of her. In his daily life he was surrounded by people trained not to stumble. Olivia seemed so real. Unrehearsed.

Instead of repeating himself, he arched an eyebrow. The rule had been his one hard rule as a dominant. He despised the act of repeating himself, but he had to it daily on the job. In politics, all they did was argue their position. Here, with her, he controlled that annoyance.

She moved with a calm slowness down the two steps she had climbed. Her lips parted for his kiss. When she reached him, she slid her hands onto his face. His cock twitched at the yearning in the depths of her eyes. Desperate to taste her, he closed his mouth on hers, and he enjoyed her willingness. He slid his hands up into her hair where he tightened his fingers into a fist, holding her to him while he guided her against the wall and climbed the one step to get closer. Heat filled his groin when her tongue slid in perfect rhythm with his until he deepened his movement, taking control of the kiss. And of her.

She moaned into his mouth and her harsh breathing brushed across his face, her soft subtle breasts pressing against his chest. He dragged his lips to her neck where he openmouthed kissed his way along her warm flesh, feeling her pulse hammering beneath his tongue. When he reached her ear, he licked the curve then murmured, “Ever since the day you walked into the restaurant, I’ve thought about being inside you.” He kissed his way over her jawline then looked at her, pressing his erection against her thigh. “Yes or no? Tell me now.”

  “God yes, sir,” she breathed.

He reached for the hem of her blouse and lifted it over her head. With a flick of his fingers, her bra hit the floor and her skirt followed. She moved to tuck her fingers into her panties. He nipped her neck and smiled at her responding shudder. “Place your hands flat against the wall.”

He waited for her to comply before kissing his way down to her breasts. She had a perfect handful with small, dark nipples. He played there for a while, giving her little nips on her taut buds, teasing her with a flash of pain soothed away by the cool drag of his tongue. This time, her moan was raspier, and he was growing harder with every single one of those sweet moans.

He licked his way back up to her neck and pinned her hip to the wall with tight fingers. “This is all very simple, Olivia. I’m going to fuck you hard and fast and come inside this gorgeous body the way I’ve been wanting to.” He, a little rougher now, tilted her head then licked up her neck until he reached her ear again. “And you are going to come with me. Aren’t you?”

“Yes, sir.” She shivered in his arms.

Goddamn it, he loved her intensity. Determined to move this along, he tucked his fingers into her panties, getting those off slowly. She gave a ragged moan when he slid his fingers between her thighs and found her drenched. “Mmm…so wet for me.” He groaned in her ear, stroking over her silky flesh before sliding one finger inside. When he withdrew, he lifted his head and found her eyes closed. “Eyes on me, angel.”

She slowly opened her eyes, revealing beauty he’d never seen before, sending adrenaline pulsing through his muscles. She licked her lips and he accepted the invitation, diving in for a kiss until he had her breathless. He continued to stroke her lower lips before moving up to her clit where he swirled the hard bud. Her ragged shudder made him ache.

“There’s a condom in my right pocket. Take it out.” She glanced down, and he tightened his fist in her hair. “No, Olivia, those beautiful eyes stay on me. Always.”

Her skin flushed, telling him orders alone aroused her, something he wouldn’t forget anytime soon. She grabbed the condom, her fingers skimming the side of his cock.

He clenched his jaw muscles, fighting against the carnal urges she brought out. “Remove my pants,” he told her.

She fumbled a little with his belt but soon managed to slide his pants as well as his boxer briefs down. His cock strained against the heat in her eyes and against all that soul desperate to give him so much.

She kept her eyes locked on his, a slight tremble rocking her body. He knew why—Olivia found being dominated arousing. That act alone would make her wet and hot. He simply fed into that game, letting her sweet submission fuel his arousal in the same way.

He inhaled against the desire pulsating through him. “Put on the condom.”

Following his instructions, she never looked away from him while she opened the wrapper. Then her soft fingers slid around his shaft. “Stop,” he growled, his muscles quivering. “Give me a taste of that.” She stroked him gently. He groaned, his forehead falling down to hers. “Yeah, angel. Just like that.” Christ, she felt good. So. Fucking. Good.

When he looked at her again, she was a shivering mess of need. “Condom?” she barely whispered.

  He nodded. “Yeah. Condom. Now.”

She slid the condom over his engorged cock with shaky hands. Her beautiful eyes trapped him while he tightened his fingers in her hair again, pinning her right where he wanted her. Keeping one foot on the lower stair, he held her hip and entered her in one swift stroke, and she arched with a soft moan.

“Don’t stop looking at me like you are right now,” he growled, thrusting his hips as she stretched to accommodate him. She was tight and wet and so fucking hot. She smelled so good, like fresh flowers. And as her soft moan spilled out over him, he discovered being inside her was the best thing of all.

He could practically taste their chemistry on the air, and he became lost in the soul she presented to him. He slid in farther, a groan spilling from his lips as her tight heat hugged his cock. He released his grip on her hip, hooking her leg around his arm to bury himself deeper. To get more of her. He tugged that leg back until his palm lay flat against the wallpapered wall just above the wainscoting.

His mouth closed on hers again out of pure need to taste her. The sweetness she offered him called to him on a primal level as he kissed her deeper. He naturally increased his thrusts, seeking more pleasure, and her mouth broke away from his with her gasp. Her chin tilted up, eyes closed, and that he allowed her, the pleasure overwhelming him all the same.

Grunts he could not control began spilling from his mouth. Her sweet pussy squeezed him like a vise with her rising climax. Her dampness spread across his sack. He fisted his fingers, commanding her, desperate for the intensity to pulse through him.

Hot pleasure swept over him. Her inner walls clamped against his cock, slowly drawing him away from her and into his needs. Every hard thrust forward only intensified the pleasure. Every pound of his hips only stole his mind away more. Until he felt himself fade into the sizzling euphoria. Before he lost all control, he nipped the flesh at her neck. Her breath hitched once, then she screamed her pleasure and gave a hard shudder, writhing between him and the wall.

And with a roar, he fell over the edge with her.

  —

There were orgasms. And there were orgasms with a capital O.

Olivia had experienced the latter and her legs were wobbly as she slid onto the stool at the island in the kitchen. The space was homey and as charming as the rest of the house with the island being the only place to eat at. The rest of the area contained antique white cabinets and wood countertops. Noah had gone into the bathroom to dispose of the condom while she got dressed again. When he returned, he wore only his jeans, no belt. His back was to her as he grabbed sliced meats from the fridge. This man was more than a man…he was a god.

  A sex god.

She smiled to herself, feeling like all the tension that had been in her body ever since walking into her
bedroom that one day had up and vanished. Even if Cameron had been her only lover, they’d had a lot of sex over the years. But she’d never had sex like this. Maybe it was Noah’s passion or sensuality or dominance, Olivia couldn’t quite put a finger on what made him such an incredible lover. But whatever it was, Olivia wanted more.

  So. Much. More.

When he moved away from the fridge, she noticed it was stocked. “Aren’t you afraid your family will show up here?” He was standing there half-naked after all.

“I’m the only one who comes here anymore.” He gave her a quick look over his shoulder and an even quicker smile. “Your voice is a bit scratchy there.” He gestured at the glass of water in front of her.

She laughed softly. “Oh, I wonder why that would be?” She took a sip of the crisp cool water, immediately easing her dry throat. She lowered the glass and got back on topic. “It’s a shame that no one else comes to visit this place. A house like this should be full of friends and family.”

“You won’t hear me disagreeing with you there.” He reached for the whole grain bread on the counter and began making sandwiches.

Olivia noted all the fresh veggies in front of him and the apples and bananas on the counter. Something didn’t add up. “If it’s just you that comes here, then how did you get all this fresh food?” They hadn’t picked anything up on the way.

“We had a housekeeper here when I was a child for as long as I can remember. She’s a sweet lady who shouldn’t really be working anymore but she likes to feel useful, so I give her the odd job, like stocking the fridge before I come.” He turned around, carrying a couple of paper towels and two plates with the sandwiches on top.

“Jeez, she must be old if she worked for your family while you were growing up.” Olivia grinned.

Noah placed the plate in front of her. “Careful.”

“Kidding,” she said with a laugh. “You’re only forty, not that old.” She snuck a peek at Noah, finding him scowling. She laughed loudly now. “Another joke. I know you’re thirty-five.”
